Gus Swanson, Clear Channel – Seattle
Gus Swanson, who is currently the Digital Program Director at Clear Channel Radio in Seattle, began his career as an intern at Portland Radio Station Z100 in 1987. In 1988, he became the youngest Promotion Director in the top 50 Markets in the country. He moved to Seattle in 1993 to take over the Promotions and Marketing responsibilities for Seattle’s Best Rock, KISW, and then accepted an Event Marketing position with Ackerey Communications in 1997, managing events like KUBE 93 Summer Jam, a 20,000 fan music event at the Gorge.
After being named Marketing Director for the Ackerley Group of stations (Sports Radio KJR, 95.7 KJR FM, 106.1 KISS FM, Kube 93 and The Brew 104.9) in 1998, Clear Channel purchased the station group in 2001. Gus’s present responsibilities as Digital Program Director include managing all of the digital assets for the 5 Clear Channel Seattle Radio Stations, Websites, E-Mail marketing, Streaming radio stations, Social Media platforms and TEXTing databases … taking what each radio station is talking about and mirroring that wherever our listeners are.
